Pittsburgh native Nikki Young will host the local premiere of her short film "Whistle Lesson" during the International Festival of Children's Films today at the August Wilson Center. The movie will screen at 4 p.m.
Ms. Young, who grew up in Highland Park, will be on hand for a Q&A discussion after the 25-minute movie plays.
"Whistle Lesson" tells the story of a girl and the lessons she learns from her grandfather. A preview can be seen online at youtube.com/nikkiyofilms.
Ms. Young, who now lives in Atlanta, recruited family members to help get the film made, including parents Jan and Reggie Young and family friends Erroll and Elaine Davis who serve as executive producers. Her sister, Krisi, composed the film's score.
