PIHL quarterfinals: Upper St. Clair wins in shutout

Matthew Wregget made 20 saves for his third shutout as Upper St. Clair beat Penn-Trafford, 4-0, in a PIHL Class AAA Penguins Cup quarterfinal game Monday night at the Ice Castle in Castle Shannon.

Justin Selep had two goals and an assist for the No. 2 seed Panthers (17-4-1). The Warriors completed their season 9-12-3.

The semifinals in all three Penguins Cup classifications will be next Monday and Tuesday at Mellon Arena.

Class AA quarterfinals

? West Allegheny 4, Montour 1: At the Airport Ice Arena, Jon Levitt, Jared DiSanti and Tyler Fitzgerald each had a goal and an assist as the No. 3 seed Indians (16-3-3) won their 10th consecutive game. Zach Schwartz scored late in the game for the No. 6 Spartans (11-10-1), who entered the playoffs having won five of six.

Class A quarterfinals

? Serra 6, Hampton 5: Class A scoring champion Erik Manetta had two goals and three assists and Garner Kraemer scored to break a 4-4 tie with about three minutes to play as the No. 3 seed Eagles (19-4) won their 14th in a row with a win against the Talbots (15-8-1) at Bladerunners in Bethel Park.

? Bishop McCort 5, Westmont Hilltop 3: The No. 4 Crimson Crushers (16-6-1) advanced with a win at the Cambria County War Memorial in Johnstown.
