Thursday: Darby Penney, co-curator of exhibit and book, "The Lives They Left Behind."

Sept. 9: Photographer Matthew Murray will speak about his project "Abandoned in America," which documents abandoned structures.

Sept. 16: Robert Whitaker, author of "Mad in America," an award-winning history of mental health treatment in the United States, and "Anatomy of an Epidemic," about the increased use of anti-depressant drugs.

Sept. 22: Art historian Carla Yanni, author of "The Architecture of Madness: Insane Asylums in the United States."

Sept. 7: "King of Hearts" (1966, France). Directed by Philip Broca. A Scottish soldier in World War II, played by Alan Bates, leaves the door to a mental hospital open while trying to disarm a bomb. The inmates escape, take over the town and crown the soldier as their king.

Sept. 14: "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" (1975, U.S.). Directed by Milos Forman. Based on the 1962 Ken Kesey novel and winner of five Academy Awards. An anti-authoritarian criminal, played by Jack Nicholson, enters a mental hospital as a ploy to avoid hard labor on a prison farm.
