Wednesday, September 01, 2010

A Connecticut man who had been sought in the Aug. 7 shooting death of a man in Beaver Falls surrendered Monday night to authorities in Hartford.

Beaver Falls police Chief Charles Jones said Tuesday that his officers will pick up the suspect, Christopher Nicholas Bailey, 26, in Hartford and bring him to Pennsylvania for prosecution.

Mr. Bailey, of East Hartford, is charged with homicide and related counts in the shooting of Steven Hardy Jr., 22, of Ambridge, at about 3 a.m. outside the Brighton Pioneer Lodge in the 600 block of Seventh Street in Beaver Falls. Investigators said the victim was shot seven times. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Images on a surveillance camera and witness statements led investigators to Mr. Bailey.

The suspect lived in Beaver Falls for several months earlier this year.
