Duquesne hires assistant men's basketball coach
Friday, September 03, 2010

The Duquesne University men's basketball program hired assistant coach Rodney Crawford today.

Crawford comes to Duquesne after serving as director of student operations and head basketball coach at The Academy at Mountain State University in Beckley, W.Va., last season. He compiled a 102-12 record and coached over 20 NCAA Division I players in four seasons as a head coach at both Harmony Community School in Cincinnati and Mountain State Academy.

"I'm excited to have a coach like Rodney on our staff," Duquesne head coach Ron Everhart said. "He's both played at a high level and has had great success at the prep and high school levels as a coach. He's a proven recruiter and a tireless worker who leaves his ego at home. He's a great fit for our staff."

As a player, Crawford, 31, -- who enrolled as a walk-on -- played in 49 career games for Bob Huggins at Cincinnati in 2000-01 and 2001-02 despite missing six weeks of his junior season with a fractured ankle.
