FESTIVALS

Midland - The Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center, 1 Lincoln Park, will host "A Slavic Celebration" at 7 p.m. Saturday in the main stage theater. The cost is $20. Tickets: 724-643-9004.

FOR PARENTS

Crafton - Crafton United Presbyterian Church, 81 Bradford Ave., will sponsor a gathering for mothers of children from age 4 through grade 2 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Younger siblings will be welcome. Information: 412-921-2293.

FUNDRAISERS

Collier - The Early Learning Institute will hold a Fore Kids! golf benefit Sept. 20 at the Club at Nevillewood, 1000 Nevillewood Drive. Registration will begin at 9 a.m., a putting contest at 11, shotgun start at 4 p.m. followed by dinner and a program. The cost is $450 per golfer or $1,600 for a foursome, and the deadline is Friday. LECTURES

Center - The Beaver County Genealogy and History Center will hold a presentation, "Strange and Fascinating Facts of the Civil War," at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Mormon Family History Center, 114 Church Drive. Speaker will be William Irion. Information: 724-843-7124.

ON STAGE

McKees Rocks - Focus on Renewal will host a poetry reading by Joan Bauer and Joseph Karasek at 7 p.m. Sunday at its Father Ryan Arts Center, 420 Chartiers Ave., for the monthly Pittsburgh Poetry Series: Collective Voices. The cost is $10. Call 412-298-7373.

RECREATION

Collier - The Chartiers Valley Swim Club will offer swimming lessons beginning next Thursday in the pool at Chartiers Valley High School, 50 Thoms Run Road. SENIORS

Moon - The Moon Township Public Library, Suite 100, 1700 Beaver Grade Road, is beginning a "Wise Walk" program, which will run from September to November, for adults 50 and older. The first meeting will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Information: 412-269-0334.
